Malcolm Leo

After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara and working as a director for an art gallery, Malcolm Leo combined his interest in films with past experience and produced "The Dealer", a short film on Manhattan galleries. Next, he directed "Up Here Looking Down", an award-winning look at the world of billboard art. He joined Wolper Productions, working on the Academy Award willing documentary "The Hellstrom Chronicle", and several television specials, including "Showdown at the O.K. Corral."
In 1983, Malcolm Leo formed his own production company, and as executive producer and/or director, has been responsible for a range of projects with incredible breadth. His television specials have celebrated some of the medium's favorite shows, such as "Bradymania: A Very Brady Special", "Happy Days Reunion Special", and "Inside Miami Vice", while others have saluted film: "E.T. & Friends: Magical Movie Visitors", and the Emmy-nominated "LIFE Goes to the Movies".
Some of his television presentations have focused on music, including "The Best of the Hollywood Palace", "Rolling Stone - 20 Years of Rock 'n Roll", "More of the Best of the Hollywood Palace", "Crosby, Stills & Nash: Long Time Comin'", "Heroes of Rock 'n Roll", Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame", "Rock 'n Roll Christmas", Emmy-nominated "Red, Hot & Blue", Emmy-nominated "Super Night of Rock 'n Roll", and the four-part series "Rock & Roll Moments". His other television credits touch on various subjects, such as "Teenage America - Glory Years", "Bob Hope's Overseas Christmas Tours", "LIFE Goes To War: Hollywood and the Homefront", and "Disney's All-American Army".
Leo had also directed the feature films, "This is Elvis" (Cannes Film Festival entrant), "It Came From Hollywood", "The Beach Boys: An American Band", "Majikat: Cat Stevens in Concert", and the HBO special, "Will Rogers - Look Back in Laughter", which garnered both Writers Guild and CableAce awards.
He is currently developing a film on the life of Jerry Garcia and a TV special on the "Gone With the Wind" screen tests. His company owns an enormous Film/Video content library, which is databased and licensable.
Mr. Leo is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of America, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
